MENTORS FOR MARTIN
BE A MENTOR!
IT MAKES YOUR HEART FEEL GOOD!

The Martin County School District's Partners in Education program is a member of Mentors for Martin, a collaborative of local mentoring agencies and programs.  The mission of Mentors for Martin is to promote and encourage quality mentoring.

What is a Mentor?
A mentor is a committed volunteer who has an hour a day, a week, or a month to give to another.

Why Mentor?
...because you are needed.  The success of effective and well run mentoring programs has proven to enrich lives.

How to be a Mentor?
By calling Mentors for Martin at the United Way or one of the Mentors for Martin members you can find out about the many mentoring opportunities in the community. Once you have made the decision to join hundreds of other caring individuals, you can review the requirements of the different programs and select one that meets your personal need. The time commitment you make may vary from program to program. Many mentoring programs are structured around today's busy lifestyle. The agency that you select will provide training specific to their program. Background checks may be required.

Let's Get Specific!

WARFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
W.E.S. Reading Lab
(formerly HOSTS -HELP ONE STUDENT TO SUCCEED
)

W.E.S. Reading Lab is a volunteer academic mentoring program that pairs a student who is struggling in school with a community member who wants to make a difference in the life of a young person.

As a volunteer mentor, you are given carefully designed individualized lesson plans tailored to a student's level. Special help and guidance is given throughout the year by the W.E.S. instructor to help insure a successful experience for both you and the student. Teaching experience or  a college education is not necessary. Anyone who can follow directions and show concern to a student is qualified to be a W.E.S. Reading Lab mentor.

Scheduling is arranged  to accommodate busy schedules.

To find out how you can make a difference in the life of a student by joining W.E.S. Reading Lab, call Jade Cheramie at Warfield Elementary 772-597-2551 or at 772-220-9106.
